Connecting to DuneMUD
The simplest and most common way to connect to a MUD is to use TELNET. Telnet is a generic Internet tool, and it can only provide basic screen formatting and text editing.
There are far more advanced connection tools called CLIENTS (described later) that provide much neater interfaces to MUDs.
To connect using our Java Client, click HERE.
To connect using TELNET, click HERE.
After the connection has been established, you will be prompted for a name by which you will be known in DuneMUD. If the name you have entered already exists, you will be prompted to enter a password. If the name is new, the MUD will ask for your confirmation to create a new DuneMUD character. Follow the on-screen instructions.
MUD Clients
You might consider getting a client. Clients automatically adjust your screen display, allow you to connect to several MUDs at once, and can separate your input from the MUD output, thus eliminating the jumbled look of TELNET. In addition, the clients provide advanced features that make your mudding much easier - triggers, aliases, buttons, gauges, etc.
The following links will help you find a client. We strongly recommend you use a mud client and not plain telnet.
